Exciton's patented technology combines both UV treatment and electrolysis to treat contaminated water. By doing so, costs are considerably less than existing technology. This exciting evolution in technology makes deployment, migration, and maintenance significantly easier.
UV Light
UV has potent germicidal action that breaks the DNA strands of algae, bacteria, viruses, bryozoans,
protozoans and other micro-organisms. The UV also breaks down chlorine into chlorine radicals and
hydroxyl radicals which powerfully break down microorganisms and
chemical contaminants in the water.
Electrolysis
At the core of our technology is a conductive metal electrode coated with an ultra-thin layer
of titanium dioxide nanotubes produced by our proprietary process. When illuminated by UV
light with sufficient energy, highly reactive electron holes are generated that oxidize
molecules on the electrode surface.
Chlorine
The reactor device then generates chlorine by converting chloride ions (CI-) into the
form of hypochlorous acid (HOCL). In the presence of salt/mineral content in the water,
the reactor is a highly efficient chlorine generator, further enhancing its water
sterilization and purification ability.
